About Royal River Chorus

Our 2023 Contest Photo

Who We Are
Royal River Chorus (RRC) is an acclaimed a cappella chorus Chartered in 1985 whose members live in southern and midcoast Maine. We are part of a vibrant and diverse global community of Sweet Adelines International (SAI) singers that embraces musical excellence while fostering a worldwide and inclusive culture of belonging.

How We Are Different
One of fourteen choruses in SAI’s northeast US Region 1, RRC is unique among area choruses, singing a cappella harmony in the traditional barbershop parts of bass, baritone, lead and tenor.

Critical Recognition
RRC has participated in competitions, performances and educational events all over the world. Throughout our history, we have won many regional and international awards. In 2022, at our first northeast regional competition since the beginning of the pandemic, we garnered a second-place medal in our chorus size and a third-place medal overall in the region. And in 2023, we earned the same two medals, plus a medal for most improved chorus!

Our Audiences
Folks of all ages enjoy hearing everything from familiar “golden oldies,” to challenging contemporary music. When not competing, RRC entertains as often as we can in surrounding towns at festivals and fairs, concert series, community gatherings, nonprofit events and more.
In particular, we are an annual favorite at the Yarmouth Clam Festival.
